This season has been very dry financially; milk and honey are not flowing. But God is good to provide us with manna and quail every single day. And a double portion on Saturday.
All that thinking about food got me wondering what kinds of foods we keep in our frig during the summer:
- Milk
- Lemons to make fresh lemonade
- 1/2 and 1/2 for my morning tea
- Activia yogurt in blueberry, cherry, vanilla and peach
- Sliced cheddar cheese
- Garlic
- Strawberries
- Green Grapes
- Blueberries
- Apples
- Pears
- Peaches
- Bananas
- Spring onions
- Tomatoes
- Baby carrots

and in our freezer:
- Salmon
- Ground beef
- Steak
- Shrimp

and what we keep stocked in our pantry:
- Breakfast cereals
- Rice Krispies treats for day camps
- Potato bread
- Peanut butter
- Albacore tuna
- Spaghetti and sauce

What do you keep on hand during summer to feed your family?

In our frig, we have iced tea, kool-aid, salsa, strawberries, pineapples, carrots, blueberries, broccoli salad, corn on the cob, eggs, cheese, and milk. zucchini, asparagus-fresh-. watermelon, cantalope .
freezer- turkey , ground beef/chicken/turkey, ham slices, lump crab meat, chicken necks- for crabbing-.chicken thighs and breast.turkey dogs, and brats.
pantry, bbq sauces, pasta and sacues, various other pastas for salads, lots of spices and sesonings for griling and salads, marshmellos, crackers and choclate for smores. tortilla chips for the salsa, peanut butter and jelly. ritz crackers, tuna .
I know theres more but thats all I can think of. I have been invetoring since money is short and I need things to last. My tomatoe plants and squah are brimming with soon to be picked veggies for us, and so are my black -eyed peas.

I keep simple things on hand like tortillas, shredded cheese, homemade frozen waffles/pancakes/french toast and mac n cheese…a STAPLE with my boys!
Although I am blessed to have a food budget of $150.00 for 2 weeks for the 4 of us, I still try to come under that by making a lot of meals from scratch, double batching them and freezing the other for a future meal. Then I put any balance in savings! God is good :O)
