Halfway is Okay

If you’ve lived by the mantra, “If you’re going to do it, do it right,” and it’s kept you from doing things, take heart–I’m giving you permission to do it half-way.

I can’t tell you how many things I’ve put off because I didn’t have the time or energy to do them perfectly, and the sadness of missing out on them.

Recently I made a half-beautiful table and breakfast, and was doubly blessed–by the fun of it and by my children’s gratitude.

Here’s my wrinkled tablecloth and placemat,


store-bought berry,


white-flour waffle on a thrift-store plate,


gravy-boatin’, HFCS syrup,


dollar-store mug,


finger-licking good


family breakfast.

  1. ya made me chuckle a little…it is true we want it all to be so perfect and they(kids)just love something out of the ordinary!! way to go with such a special breakfast

  2. Flylady has a great quote for us recovering ‘perfectionists’ who need everything done right or we won’t even attempt it.
    “Anything worth doing is worth doing wrong.” If cleaning your bathroom is important, but you don’t have the 20 minutes to do it completely, you can still bless your family by giving it a 5 minute tidy!! And hundreds of other daily applications! Berries on waffles or pancakes are marvelously yummy!!

  3. Ha! Your post reminds me of my life every single day!!! It’s the thought that counts and compared to lots of others in many places of the world, we are sure lucky to have what we have!!! We are blessed!!! (and so is your family!)
