Field Trip: Martin’s State Airport

Somehow, our field trip coordinator at co-op knew we needed an airplane unit field trip.

The boys loved that there were military planes. Their daddy is a former paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division.

We loved watching the A 10’s, which were neatly parked right near some riverfront houses,

taxi down the runway

and take off.

We also loved touring one of the first commercial airliners Martins produced, just after World War II.

It took seeing these excited faces

to realize

it was the very first time they’d ever been on an airplane!

(Well, Brooke flew as a baby, but she doesn’t recall.)

After we were done on the runway, the children worked on an assembly line

to create airplanes to fly. Awesome!

To cap off the perfect day, we had dinner with friends at our favorite pizza place and heyday hang-out.
